the art of linen
Drawn to the neutrality and simplicity of linen as a fabric, Kendall often decorates with linen pillows, table runners and furniture. Versatile yet unique, no piece of linen is identical, as the flax seed determines hue and color. Sometimes the linen is cloudier, lighter, darker, greyer or more white, accentuating the pure originality of each piece.
Kendall started her custom linen creations during quarantine, “when there was more space to think,” sending them to friends and family members for birthdays or special occasions. The chain reaction was nearly immediate as giftees displayed their linens in their respective apartments and homes, and shared photos to social media; Kendall realized there was legitimate demand for her linens, and she could sell her creations beyond her inner circle.
*In its first month live, the Galles Shop donated 15% of all earnings to local food banks in Southern California
At first, Kendall would sleep only five hours a night fulfilling dozens of orders placed through Instagram and Etsy. (Thankfully with practice she’s fine-tuned her process and delivery time.) Her linens, although personalized for each customer, are distinguishable by her mismatched, signature brand font, which she describes as “funky, but classic.”
in loving memory
The galles shop (pronounced gal-ess) is named after Kendall’s grandmother, who’s maiden name was Galles. She arranged Kendall’s piano lessons, took her to etiquette class and fostered her creativity from a young age.
